CCRC Serve Monday

Good evening everyone,

Sorry about the delay.  As you hopefully saw on Facebook, we had a pretty nasty bout of weather move through the area.  Thankfully we were all safe, but it did knock out the internet for the night.  Tonight, I'm trying to get a lot of pictures posted.  This is going to take a while for them all to load, but I should hopefully have all the pictures up soon.

The young adults and leaders have had a great time working with their resident.  Some are building a wheelchair ramp, some are cleaning up after a house fire, and some are doing some landscaping.  There have been many opportunites for us as the host team to visit.  I hope these pictures do justice to what has been going on in Roselawn for the week.

Tomorrow, we are going to take a day off of working and go and visit the nearby water park, named Deep River.  The young adults are looking forward to it, as well as members of the host team.

Have a great night!

Roselawn Serve Day 2 (Sunday)

Day two is done!  It was a great day.  It included trips to ponds to play some games and go swimming, it included the showers running out of water, it also included a couple of great worship services.  Hopefully all the pictures loaded from the first day.  Please let me know if this way of sharing pictures is not working.

Tomorrow the students start their projects.  I'm sure there will be tons of very tired kids around 4:30pm tomorrow.  Pray for the kids and leaders as they strive to not only get the work done, but also, and more importantly, build a relationship with their resident so that their resident will want to learn more about God.

They Have Arrived!

Good evening everyone,

Wanted to quickly let you all know the kids have safely arrived.  They were tired, but still seemed excited about this upcoming week.  Things went well today, other than a bit of a storm we are having right now.  Below is a link to an album of pictures from today.  Enjoy!

Update...Finally!

Hi everyone!  Just wanted to check in here.  I know it seems like it has been a while, and it has.  We didn't host a serve group last year, hence why the latest update was in 2013.  Just so everyone knows, I am planning on updating the blog each day this upcoming week.  I am going to include as many pictures as I can each day.  I can't promise all your children will be featured each day, but I will see how many I can get.

The host team had a big final meeting tonight and there was clearly excitement in the air.  We are pumped to meet everyone, and we are praying for everyone.

See you soon!

Wednesday Update (hopefully all the pictures work)

Today was a great day for the students. We had our day away, and it was a blessing we chose today. We went up to Lake Michigan and had perfect beach weather, while the church area got poured on for a couple hours.

After the beach, we came back to the church, changed and headed out again to a local dairy. A few of the employees were kind enough to give us a tour and showed us how the milk all 7,000 cows they have three times a day. It was impressive. I think many of the students did struggle with the smell, but I know a few really found it interesting :).

The evening was great again. We learned about an organization with a place here in town called P.E.T. (http://petinternational.org/). This program helps people that have lost the use of their legs through things such as polio or landmines. The people are able to drive these P.E.T's using their arms. The students were able to try a few of them out tonight in a tournament race we set up. They seemed to really enjoy it.

I have some more pictures from yesterday as well as this evening with the P.E.T. project.

Thanks for the prayers. I know the students appreciate them, especially as they head into their final two days of working.
