1st work day...

Well, here we are at the end of the first work day.  But first let me catch you up on what went on yesterday.

SUNDAY

The day started off with a bang. Our wonderful cooks made delicious blueberry (and regular) pancakes.  The great thing about this area is the MANY blueberry farms we have.  Our blueberries came straight from the farm, picked the day before.  Following breakfast, the group was commissioned into service at CCRC.  They were real troupers making through 2 whole sermons!! After church ended, we all had the chance to meet and eat with our prayer partners. If you learn anything about our church it's that we know how to throw a potluck!  There was plenty of food for everyone.  Once finished with lunch, we bid our pray partners adieu and headed out to the Bos Dairy Farm Pond.  Things started off by breaking into work teams, followed by some games.  After a while we could tell the mid 90 (32 C) degree weather was taking a toll on the energy of the kids, so we granted them some freedom and sent them into the pond.   Our church was able to have their evening service outside at the pond, which was a big hit!  We worshiped and heard the first message from our fearless speaker, Aaron Shupe.  Dinner followed, with fresh dairy burgers and juicy watermelon.  We cleaned up after ourselves and headed back to church for showers and sleep.

TODAY!
Today we started off running.  We had a brief thunder and lightning scare, but it passed by very quickly.  We had another hot, hot day today.  We sent the kids off to their sites with equipment, food, and plenty of water.  Two teams joined 2 other teams to help tear off a roof.  I have to say, these are some great kids.  They worked together so well, followed instructions without complaint and even were brave enough to ask a neighbor if they could dunk their heads in the pool!  We are off to a great start and I can't wait to see what the rest of the week brings.

I hope to put pictures up soon.  I know there are a few on the CCRC SERVE facebook page.  We've had a great number of emails from friends and families and the kids are SO happy for that.  Keep the emails coming!

Shalom,
Jennifer

They have arrived!!

Well my friends, all 4 of our SERVE churches arrived here in Roselawn, Indiana perfectly on time!  We were excited to see all their smiling faces-although I think they were more excited to just get out of the car :).  Within a few hours, we left for CCRC's Bandfest with the popular groups Abandon and Sidewalk Prophets.  We successfully accomplished our first SERVE project by helping with tear down at Bandfest.
Now we are back at church preparing ourselves for some much needed rest.  We have a long day tomorrow with 2 commissioning services, a potluck with our prayer partners, games, some swimming, and finishing up the night with our first service by our speaker Aaron Shupe.
I look forward to getting to know the kids and leaders.

If you would like to send a message to a SERVE participant please email ccrcserve@gmail.com .  Make sure you put the first and last name of the participant in the subject line.

Many blessings!
